When we anticipate positive outcomes, our brains release dopamine, which not only boosts our mood but also encourages us to keep moving forward. It’s a powerful reminder that what we expect, we often experience.

And the impact of perception goes beyond our personal experience—it influences others. The way we talk about challenges, market trends, or future goals can shape the outlook of those around us. This doesn’t mean glossing over hard realities, but it does mean choosing to share a balanced, constructive perspective. Too often I hear real estate agents talk about the market like a scorned ex-lover or arch nemesis. “The market is garbage…the worst I have seen in years”, etc. While it may feel good temporarily to vent, it often has the long-term effect of influencing ourselves and those around us in a negative way. The reality is garbage usually begets more garbage.

Looking Forward with Hope

With the election now behind us, we have the opportunity to turn our focus forward. In the face of uncertainty, there’s always a choice to look for potential, to see what’s possible, and to allow ourselves a bit of hope—a powerful, steady force that helps us look beyond obstacles to see the bigger picture.
